Drawing Blood, An indie film - A different view of cinema

Cinema is an art and has an important place in the society.  But in India-every form of art, be it music of theatre, is consumed by Bollywood. If we are not able to produce something beyond box-office numbers, then something is seriously wrong and there is a need to change it and it can be bought up only by a change within us.
Most good Indian films represent what is familiar to us. They intend to annoy or upset people with the same old stories. Independent movies challenge not only our habitual ways of watching a film but also our fixed ways of thinking about love, man, woman, morality and conventions. We, the audiences, need to find ways of looking at these films differently."There was a time in Indian Cinema. I think it was the black and white era when most Indian films were produced by NFDC (National Film Development Corporation). I think that was the golden period when films were made with passion and creativity. Today i think it is all about Bollywood and its stars in the last few years", says Tannishtha Chatterjee, the actress who fetched global recognition through Independent cinema. This is the state of Indian cinema and how we do not encourage Independent films in India. The main reason why Indian indie films are encouraged in International film festivals are as they want to embrace an alternate way of looking as well as enjoy such kind of films from around the world.
One such kind of movie is - Drawing Blood, which is an Indie film with a story revolving around a life of an artist/painter. The life of an artist is portrayed in the movie about how pale it can get although he paints colours, and i believe that each one of us has an artist deep inside of us and therefor should give a try to such a film and encourage it.
