What makes movies a blockbuster nowadays?? If the movie has entered the 100 crore club
then whether or not it has a story or concept no one cares, all they look for
is the “100 crore Club”. And the most
latest trend of them all “the 200 crore club” which in India are only two films
i.e 3 Idiots and Chennai Express.
“This is a commercial field. The
commerce allows it today to push films such as ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘Ship of
Theseus’ with the association of names like Kiran Rao, Karan Johar or Anurag
Kashyap. If these work on a more regular basis, it will be a welcome trend. If
they don’t, then even the big names will not lend their names. However, it
indeed is somewhere helping to create a base of audiences for such films,”
Sarthak Dasgupta, director of The Great Indian Butterfly said. In India
audience for indie films are very less and this is due to the fact that these
kinds of movies are not promoted and funded well by people in the industry.
Independent movies (known as Indie movie) are
such movies which are distinguishable by their content and style and the way in
which the filmmakers' personal artistic vision is realized. These kinds of
movie are not produced by a high end production house neither are they
distributed widely. These films are produced by people who are really
passionate about hardcore filmmaking with a different concept and have a
different point view from that of the world. Indie movies do not have
raunchy item numbers or unnecessary dancing act. This kind of movies is what
the society needs. Money making or being commercial is all the filmmakers’ want
but actually filmmaking is an art which should have creativity first and
followed by technology and business. The indie movies thrive on passion and
innovation than the sale of tickets. And such is our Indie movie- ‘Drawing
Blood’. It has emphasized on concept, on story which we can relate to our real
life.
